QUESTION:
For the last 5 years I’ve been commuting on a Xootr Mg. I use it to ride the bus most of the way to get to work, and then finish the last mile to work after getting off the bus. It’s also been great for going to the grocery store, cafes, and even traveling. Being impressed with the design and engineering, I always wonder who the original Xootr scooter founders were.

I have searched Google for the answer and stumbled upon websites and forums, that have said that the original Xootr scooter founders were former NASCAR engineers.
If this is true or not, would you be able to tell me who these original Xootr scooter founders were? What were their roles when they worked for NASCAR, and what inspired them to create the Xootr scooter brand?
Also, how well did their engineering skills from working at NASCAR translate to developing, testing, and actually manufacturing the Xootr scooter?
Are these original founders still a part of the company, or have they moved on?
Thank you for answering these questions and I look forward to hearing the answers.
ANSWER FROM XOOTR SCOOTER:
The founders and designers of the Xootr Scooter are two brothers, Karl and Nathan Ulrich.
Many years ago these two guys who have engineering degrees, Karl from MIT and Nathan U of Pennsylvania were sitting in their parents basement doing some rough sketches of scooters and eventually found a design that they thought could actually work.
Eventually they got a prototype built, worked out some issues and here we are. At one time Nathan was involved with formula one racing working on suspensions. Karl is still involved but in a limited capacity.
To this day all Xootrs are custom built and hand assembled in Old Forge PA.
Best,
Steve
