How I Needed To Block Texts On iPhone

Last year I made a bike mistake. Something that I said I’d never make. I signed up for text messages from a reputable organization (I’m not going to mention this organization), that I never thought would do the things that they did. As soon as I turned my phone on in the morning, I received a ton of texts. While working out, I received texts. Eating lunch, received texts. Commuting to the store or to an appointment, you guessed it, received texts. The amount of texts that I received was relentless. Finally, I had to find a way to block texts on iPhone.

How I needed to learn how to block texts on iphone

At first I’d just delete each text that came on my iPhone, but after a while this became a nuisance, because I’d spend too much time deleing these text messages.

Deleting over 15 text messages a day was time I could have spend doing other things, such as working on this magazine.

Plus, I didn’t just receive text messages from this organization, but others also. Apparently they gave my phone number to other sources, which only increased the amount of unwanted text messages I received each day.

What I needed was a way to completely block these unwanted text messages, plus any phone calls.

Fortunately, after a few searches on Google, I found a way to  easily block these annoying text messages.

After I found relief from these awful text messages, I decided to share what I learned in order to prevent other text message victims form experiencing the same.

Here’s what I learned about how to block text messages on iOS 14 and 13 as well as iOS 12, seeing that the way to block them has changed over the years.

How to block texts on iPhone In iOS 13 and iOS 14

  1. Tap on a message from a number you’d like to block in the Messages app
  2. Tap the contact icon just above the number at the top
  3. Choose info near the top
  4. In iOS 13 tap the arrow to the right of the number, in iOS 14 tap info again
  5. Toward the bottom of your screen tap Block this Caller

How to manage blocked numbers

  1. On your iPhone, head to Settings
  2. Swipe down and tap Phone
  3. Swipe down again and choose Blocked Contacts
  4. You’ll see the full list of numbers you’ve blocked (includes texts and calls)
  5. Tap Edit in the top right corner to unblock a number by removing it, tap Done when finished

  1. Tap on a message from a number you’d like to block in the Messages app
  2. Tap the info in the top right corner
  3. Tap the arrow to the right of the phone number
  4. Tap Block this Caller at the bottom

How to manage blocked numbers in iOS 12

  1. Open Settings
  2. Swipe down and tap on Messages
  3. Swipe down and tap on Blocked
  4. Tap Edit in the top right corner and remove any numbers you’d like to unblock

Conclusion

Learning how to block texts on iPhone has eliminated a lot of wasted time and frustration. I no longer have to spend so much time deleting text messages.
