Rochester Art Supply Is Incredible!

Mr Thousand, What’s In The Bag?

Whenever I went to the studios, artists would always get very curious about my black shoulder bag. They always wanted to know what was in it. But where would the fun be in that? I had a blast keeping the contents a secret until now. It’s time to let the cat out of the bag. And don’t worry, there’s not actually a cat in the bag. Or is there?

Rochester Art Supply Saved Me

I was deeply involved in creating portrait and figure art. And the type of supplies that I was using was unique. Using just markers and pencil, I’d create amazing comic style art. The problem was that these types of supplies were very hard to find. Just like many artists that came before me I searched all over. But as always, I came home from multiple craft and office supply stores extremely frustrated.

Originally, I was using regular drawing paper to sketch with markers. But the problem was that the ink would go right through the paper. This would create an uneven and blotchy looking drawing. What I needed was thicker and higher quality paper that absorbed the marker better. After searching for a long time, I finally discovered Canson Poster Boards. This poster board was higher quality, plus thicker. The marker never bled through, leaving no blotches. Color looked much sharper and consistent.

Rochester Art Supplie Carries The Good Stuff

Still I was not satisfied. I knew that the color could look much brighter and sharper. The problem was, that I was using the wrong type of markers. First I tried some from Staples. But they were more suited for writing than drawing. Then I tried some from Walmart, but they look horrible when dried.  I went back to where I bought the comic poster board. And I tried some Copic markers. All the reviews said that they were the most preferred by professionals. The ink always looked very vibrant and smooth.

Over time I did add more items to my arsenal such as a compas for drawing circles. Pencils to draw my layouts. And different brands of markers to color them in.

Rochester Art Supply Carries Everything

Now you may be asking where did I find all of this great stuff. The answer is Rochester Art Supply at 150 Main Street in Downtown Rochester, NY.  This store is highly rated by many artists. Upon entering the store you are greeted by a very friendly, and helpful staff. They have so much stuff that it’s hard to know where to start.  But if you need help, you will get directed to where it’s located. And all the staff are knowledgeable enough to give advice. Tha’s because, most of the staff are artists themselves. They also sell great paint, seeing that they bought a paint company a while back. You can find this on their second floor. And if you cannot find exactly what you want, they can mix different paint to create the color you’re looking for.

Rochester Art Supply Has Great Service

I also have to mention how great the customer service is. One time I was looking for a few items that they didn’t stock, but was directed to a place just down the street. I was told to mention the person that sent me there, and explain what I was searching for. Within no time, everything was sitting right in front of me. This shows that Rochester Art Supply is not just interested in taking your money. They truly care about helping their customers. And are about making profits by serving their customers.
