Nathan’s Souped up with Salad!

Nathan’s Soup and Salad located on Park Avenue is a place I’ve been wanting to visit for a very long time. Every time I hear the name images of custom soup and elaborate salads with all the toppings pop into my head. Black olives with grated cheese. Balsamic vinaigrette with tomatoes and croutons. Grilled chicken and hard boiled eggs.

As you can probably tell I’m a huge soup and salad freak and I try to add at least one or both to every meal whenever I can. With a name like this for a restaurant I had high expectations to try the best soup and salad I’ve ever had in town. Was Nathan’s Soup and Salad going to disappoint me or was I going to be very impressed? Soon I was about to find out, and on this particular day I finally did.

It was a Thursday afternoon and I got off from work early which doesn’t happen very often and I was in the mood to try something new and tasty for lunch. It was time to put Nathan’s Soup and salad to the test. When we arrived at Nathan’s Soup and Salad we had to deal with the same problem we always do when visiting any restaurant in the area. The parking situation is always a struggle and after much looking around we finally found a spot that was pretty close, something very surprising. It can be very frustrating at times but we couldn’t hold it against Nathan’s because that’s something that they can’t really control.

Nathan’s was very busy but still friendly

As we entered the building we noticed that it was small and basic inside but looked to be very clean. The line was sorta long and seemed very busy but the two ladies behind the counters were moving very fast and making sure that the orders were fulfilled as fast as possible. They were constantly moving, and still whenever we had a question or needed something they were attentive and polite. This was a good sign that the customer service could be very good and if the food matched the service this could be a regular place to eat. After ordering our food there was a long wait before it was finished but they immediately apologized and said that they were very busy and said that if we needed anything just let them know.

Nathan’s food is fresh with great customer service

As soon as I took the first bite of my salad and spoon full of soup I could tell that the food was very fresh. It was definitely home made and not that canned junk that you usually find at those other cheap restaurants. On their website they say that they have over a dozen different kinds of soup, and one look at the menu you can see that this is very true, but I usually stick to the basics. This definitely was a huge factory in me going back here many more times because after talking to the two ladies behind the counter and tasting the food it’s definitely a healthy place to eat with some fresh tasty options and great customer service. There was even one time that I forgot to add eggs to my salad and when I went back the next day they made sure that they were added.

Nathan’s atmosphere was clean and inviting

A simple trick that I always do is to check how clean the bathroom is because if the bathroom is very clean it usually means the rest of the place is sanitary. Nathan’s definitely passed this test with no problem. The bathrooms were clean and the tables we sat at didn’t have crumbs on them, or around them on the floor. The inside interior was also painted very nicely and despite being very small was laid out nicely. It’s a place that I could hang out at and eat while having a great conversation with company. There were plenty of tables and chairs so we didn’t have to wait to sit down, and despite the plastic containers that the food came with inside a paper bag everything was very comfortable and enjoyable.

Would I recommend Nathan’s Soup and Salad for lunch? The answer is absolutely. They have amazing salads that can be customized with any toppings that you can imagine, and the soups are all homemade making them very fresh and extremely delicious. Customer service is another thing where I have to give them a very high rating. No matter how busy or hectic things got while we were there, they were friendly and helpful at all times and never ignored us or got irritated. And after the rush we got a chance to talk to them for a bit and they were two of the nicest ladies we’ve ever met working at a restaurant in a long time.

The next time you’re in the mood for something healthy and fresh, and want great customer service try out Nathan’s Soup and Salad.
